SECONDARY schools hold their open houses at various times in the year offering parents and children an opportunity to better appreciate the school's distinctive propositions and hopefully be identified as the preferred school for selection after the PSLE results. Hosting an open house will take some planning since most schools would like to elevate their key strengths to attract the best and most suitable. It is time and resource consuming since a well-planned open house should ideally provide a comprehensive programme on what the school is made up of, its value, the teaching and learning resources, the achievements, a walk-about of the facilities, etc. While many mark this as their annual event, others remain fairly passive. onSponge made some findings to arrive at the following schools which have made plans for visitations by parents and childen to their open houses. Quite a few host the open house from April - August period, with many others after the PSLE results are released.
If your child is currently in upper primary, take time with him to visit some of the schools. It will be exciting for him to witness and experience his next new academic environment complete with more facilities and wide range of interesting activities. Visitations to open houses will serve as an avenue to inspire and motiviate your child to strive for better results when he has a goal to work towards being accepted by his desired secondary school.

Parents are also advised to contact the desired school for further details about what the open house can provide as the range of the day's programme can vary from school to school.
