"WHEN you love the feeling of heading down to the gym, you will never understand why others think exercising is painful," says 20-year-old undergraduate Veronica Tang who works out at the Serangoon Gardens Country Club gym.

Though she did not frequent the gym then, she is now surely thankful to her dad for having introduced her to it as she found a compelling reason to train there in later years.

Motivated by need to lose weight

When four years later she needed to lose some weight as she was close to being overweight, Veronica picked up her pace.sgcc_gym5

She said: "Gym training has also made me a lot more confident. I used to be slightly on the heavier side at 60kg for my frame of 1.62m. I have since lost about 15kg and have maintained it.

It has also made her a happier person because she is now able to fit into more clothes nicely.

"I guess, medically, it has been an improvement because I used to lead a rather sedentary lifestyle," she added.
