Dear Parents,
Hello again! In our last email on the preparation tips for the upcoming SA2, we had some problem sums to test your child’s readiness and we hope that went well!
Today, let’s talk about one of the most common mistakes made by students be it on their day-to-day practises or the examinations. It is also one of the most frequently heard complaints from parents – “My child wasted his marks on careless mistakes!”
Yes, the dreaded – Careless Mistakes. It may seem trivial to some but 2 or 3 of these ‘careless mistakes’ will cost your child that A/A* in his Math score! So, don’t leave it to chance when you can eliminate this problem and help your child score 10% or even 15% higher for his upcoming SA2 Math.
Careless mistakes are typically due to:
- Writing the wrong values
- Calculation errors
- Mis-reading the key and right information
- Transfer error
At first glance, these errors may seem like ‘just a careless mistake’ but the underlying issue lies in the improper skills and habits grounded in the child. These mistakes or errors can simply be avoided if your child is guided (and taught) with the right skills and problem-solving habits.
