NLB has invites volunteer to help out. From what i understand, they don't pay but the children can score their CIP (Community Involvement Programme) marks . This very useful for secondary school children because i think they need to clock in at least 100 hours for CIP over 4 years.

Interestingly, one of my contacts whose child was with Kumon since a young age got his temporary job during his hols at the centre. I like the idea since it is a much safer environment for our kids to be exposed and learn new skills outside of school.

some National Education where school-going children are required to contribute back to the society through social work like volunteerism. It is compulsory and if not wrong applies to all secondary and junior college students. Marks will be awarded for participating in such programmes and these marks become valuable for entry into College just like CCA.

So when your child goes to secondary school, they will be quite involved in such matters. If school slack, child does not know then will not look good in compare to other students and may mean missing that extra point for getting into desired college. Some children who are smart, they do alot of social or volunteer work during school hols to clock the point. this is beyond what the school organises. So now parents also must be in the know to help our kids get their extra points
