For Increasing Vocab Power, Read more bks, go to a bookstore and get an exercise book write words from work, bks anything and the meaning beside it. And also check the dictionary whenever there are words that you do not understand and write it in your 'vocab bk'.
To do well for compre cloze, I guess just revise and practice words from your textbk and file or try to read the dictionary.
Btw did anyone tell u this columm is for Math?

Reading more books will help because in each book you are going to learn new words.
For words you do not understand do not just keep reading passing them by. Open the dictionary and learn the meanings and like Jolene said, write them in your vocab book. I think also this is not enough.
I think you need to practice using the words you learn. Maybe each time you learn new words create new sentences out of the words and then talk to your brothers/sisters/friends/parents using these words so that they are not just words you read but words you use. When we use the new words everyday we remember them better and they become part of our vacab not just vocab we read.
Also, need to read different types of books. If always reading the same style from same author then always use similar words. Reading different styles and types of books should give a better variety. I don't like reading the dictionary so I read the newspaper sometimes and then talk about the stories with my mom and dad to remember the words better.
