Hi i don't really know how to do this, and I have been looking for the method. please help me!

The Question is as follows:

Figure 1 has 1 square while Figure 2 has 4 squares,m Figure 3 has 9 squares. Which Figure will have 1681 squares.

You should recognise the numbers 1,4,9, ... esp after the workshop. These are square numbers thus you should look for a number A, where A x A = 1681. Since 1681 ends in a 1, what number multiplied by itself also ends in a 1. For this:
1x1 & 9x9 end with a 1
2x2 & 8x8 end with a 4
3x3 & 7x7 end with a 9
4x4 & 6x6 end with a 6
5x5 ends with a 5
0x0 ends with a 0

So you narrow down your choices to a number ending with a 1 or a 9. And we know it must be less than 100x100 so now just try a few. 31x31=961, 39x39=1521, 41x41=1681.
