Right Time to start Math Tuition? 1 Year, 11 Months ago Karma: 3
More and more parents are sending their kids to tuition. There was a survey of 100 students and results showed that 97 of them are taking tuition. So here's the question - which level did you start sending your child for Maths tuition?

Only when necessary 1 Year, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
At Primary 5, if the kid really needs it because from my experience, that is the year most when the standard jumps. Also only for subject the child cannot make it. Why tuition just because everyone is doing it?

Only if your child needs it...naturally. It should not be a lifestyle choice Smile

I'm a little late into this conversation but certainly it depends on your definition of tuition. Does tuition imply private tuition? Is is something that the parents can do? To me tuition is simple extra help outside of school. So my response is - anytime and the sooner the better. It is just a matter of how the tuition is given. For eg. why not turn tuition into games when they are younger like counting red cars? Why not teach fractions with marbles and food? Why not teach science with experiments at home? Tuition can be fun and a means of spending quality time with the kids. It doesn't just have to be at the table with a set of books - even for a dull subject like math.

Perhaps that would be a good article for you guys? Something about activities that teach kids while they play.

That's depend.

If Your child is in P1, P2 or P3 and has been scoring 80% and above, Maths Tuition is unnecessary. Let he or she learns to be independent.

If your child has 'signaled' you that he or she hate Maths, you need to start finding tutors for him or her.

If your child (Primary) has told you that he or she hate Maths, it is advisable to find young tutor who once hate maths before and able to achieve min 'B' for his or her 'O' level Maths. Never find a Maths tutor for your child but find a friend that your child can study together with him or her. Your child will 'love' someone who once in the same boat as him or her.

Once your child 'love' the tutor, your child will do his or her best to 'love' Maths. Everything is linked.

Joining Group Tuition is good if the group is conducted in the way to make the students able to express him or herself and to communicate with one another.

Sometimes, students are not doing well because they do not know how to express or too shy to express about the difficulty they are facing in Maths. When things accumulated too much in their heart, it will explode one day.
