Need help on below Pri 5 Maths.

1. If Sandra buys 3 gift pack A and 4 gift pack B, she will have $4.50 left. If she buys 4 gift pack A and 3 gift pack B, she will have $3.50 left. Given that one gift pack B costs $6, find the amount of money Sandra has.

2. Belle had some money. After spending $10 on 3 writing pads and 7 pencils, she would be short of $0.40 if she were to buy another writing pad. However, if she were to buy1 more pencil, she would have $0.60 left.
(a) How much did each writing pad cost?
(b) How much did Belle have at first?

For both of the questions, I think one of challenges is how to start. As with most questions we just start writing things down such that we can make comparisons or solve components of the question. For the first question, we are given the cost of B therefore we can immediately use this information simplifying the question. For the second question, I find drawing a simple model to visualise the gap will help us to see that there is a difference of $1 between a Writing Pad and a Pencil.
