please help me with the follwing question. Tim had 20% more than Ryan. David had 60% of what Ryan had. If Tim had $600/-How much did three of them have all together?

Hi bini! Ryan --> 100% Tim ---> 100% + 20% = 120% = $600 David ---> 60% 120% = $600 100% = 100/120 x $600 = $ 500 ---> Ryan David --> $500 x 60% = $300 Total amount of money --> $600 + $500 + $300 = $1400

Well done Hemanth Did you know you can solve it using units right throughout the question until the end like this ... R : T : D 100 : 120 : 60 5 : 6 : 3 6units --> 600 1unit --> 100 total units --> 5+6+3 = 14 14units --> 14 x 100 = 1400

Tim had 20% more than Ryan. David had 60% of what Ryan had. If Tim had $600/-How much did three of them have all together? Tim- 120% Ryan-100% David-40% $600/120=5 120+100+40=260 260x5=1300 This is my answer and the way i solve it but i think there is a better way thouugh. Anyway oops! its wrong

Hi Maple, In your solution you have given David 40% of Ryan. He should have 60% as it states "David had 60% of what Ryan had". It does not say 60% less.
