5/8 of 8 litres = 5 litres
5 litres -> 4 wooden tables + 2 chairs
Given that amount of paint needed to paint 1 wooden table = 2 chairs
5 litres -> 8 chairs + 2 chairs = 10 chairs
Remaining paint = 3 litres -> 10/5x3 = 6 chairs can be painted.
6 chairs can be painted using the remaining paint.

1/3 of the pills taken by Rani for 5 days.
1 day -> 1/15 of the pills taken by Rani
12 days -> 12/15 of the pills taken by Rani
After 12 days, 3/15 of the pills was left
3/15= 1/5
1/5 of the pills -> 21
Pills at first-> 21x5 = 105

Number of pills that Rani had at first = 105

Left
Apples: 3/4
Oranges: 1/8 = 3/24

Before
Apples: 4u
Oranges: 24u

4u+24u=252
28u=252
u=9

Apples at first = 4u = 4x9=36
(a) Number of apples at first = 36

Oranges left = 3u= 3x9 = 27
(b)Now, the number of oranges that the fruit seller has = 27

Draw a model and you will know that:
$320+$170+$170= 2 units
2 units = $660
3 units = $990
$990+$170=$1160
At first, Elsie had $1160

OR

Before
E: unit
G: unit+320

After
E: unit-170
G: unit+320+170=unit+490

E:G = 3:5

5(unit-170)=3(unit+490)
5 units-850=3 units+1470
2 units= 2320
1 unit = 1160

At first, Elsie had $1160

E:G = 3:5

Since E = 3 and G = 5
why do you have :

5(unit-170)=3(unit+490)

and not
3(unit-170)=5(unit+490)

Please explain thanks

E : G
unit-170 : unit+490
3 : 5

Balance both sides, multiply left hand side(E) by 5 and right hand side(G) by 3,
E : G
5(unit-170) : 3(unit+490)

Rest is the same:
5(unit-170)=3(unit+490)
5 units-850=3 units+1470
2 units= 2320
1 unit = 1160

At first, Elsie had $1160

It's easier to solve using model drawings and pls wait for other members to help.
Are these P4 questions?

Since we have an amount "less than", I have chosen to use a model for this question.
