Q1) Azman had 25% more marbles than chongfu. Chongfu had 60% more marbles than Bala.During
a game,Azman and Bala lost some marbles to Chongfu in the ratio 3:1. In the end,Azman and Bala had 780 and 480 marbles left respectively.How many marbles did Azman have at first?

1 unit of lost ----> 960-780=180

Azman initially had ----> 780+(180*3)= 1320

checking>1320/10*5=660

Bala initially had 480+180=660

Azman to Bala ratio = 1320/660 = 2:1 (yay correct!)

How was your PSLE 2010 Oral examination? Could you pls advise the source of this question?

A: Azman
B: Bala
C: Chongfu

A: 125/100x160% = 200%
B: 100%
C: 160/100x100% = 160%

Note: Use 100% as the base for Bala

A: [100%][60%][40%]
B: [100%]
C: [100%][60%]

Azman and Bala lost some marbles to Chongfu in the ratio 3:1.
In the end,Azman and Bala had 780 and 480 marbles left respectively.

Azman
100%+60%+40%-3u->780
200%-3u -> 780 - (1)

Bala
100%-u -> 480
Multiply by 2
200%-2u -> 960 - (2)

(2)-(1) [Get rid of the % in order to find value of u]
u -> 180

At first, Azman -> 780+3u = 780 +3(180) = 780+540 = 1320 marbles
Number of marbles that Azman had at first = 1320

Pls let me know if you are still not clear of the above method of solving this question.
