Adult:child 5:3 Assume that all are children = 40 X $3 + $120 $148 - $120 = $28 Difference = $5 - $3 = $2 $28 /$2 = 14 40 - 14 = 26 There were 26 children

Yes you will. This method is called Supposition / Assumption. Basically is it a replacement for Guess and Check questions. Assume all people were adults 40 x $5 = $200 $200 - $148 = $52 $52 / $2 = 26 There were 26 children.
