While I am not in the position to say which is correct, I support your view for the reason you have given.

With MCQ we are choosing the "most appropriate" / "most correct" answer based on the specific wording providing.

In this particular case, we are shown the direction of the stroking (i.e. one direction) and we are not told that a second case has been completed with stroking occurring in both directions. Thus eliminating 1. Number 3 doesn't makes sense for many reasons, leaving 2 and 4.

For option 4, we have to makes the assumption that the experiment has been repeated so that we can measure the effectiveness different numbers of strokes.

Whereas for option 2, we do not need to assume anything and therefore making it the most correct answer.

I dont think it can be 4. It says hypothesis. A hypothesis is stated before an experiment and the experiment needs to be conducted to test the hypothesis. If the answer was 4 then the experiment should test it.

I search google and got this explanation

A hypothesis is a tentative statement that proposes a possible explanation to some phenomenon or event. A useful hypothesis is a testable statement which may include a prediction. www.accessexcellence.org/LC/TL/filson/writhypo.php

From above the experiment does not test 4 but does test 2.
