The answer seems right to most, yet the pupil scored a "0".

That is because the keyword in the question is "relationship" and "conclude".  Thus the pupil is expected to analyse the data and provide the pattern in the data.

The correct answer : As the mass increases, the extension of the spring also increases.

Scoring in Primary Science is not simply by rote learning.  And memorising all the definitions does help but still does not guarantee an "A".  To master Primary Science, it is critical to acquire the right skills to tackle the questions.

About the speaker

Ms Lee Mui Hoong (a.k.a. Mrs Sim)

She has been teaching for more than 20 years, including experience in the gifted programme as well as the mainstream.  She was former Level Head and acting HOD for Science in her previous school.  As the Head for Science, she restructured the whole department in terms of resources and pedagogy, training, inspiring and equipping the teachers (with the aptitute) to teach the subject.  She has conducted workshops for parents as well as teachers in tuition centres on Science Process Skills.
